Book Review - The Gospel for Muslims by Thabiti Anyabwile
As Islam continues to spread across the Western Hemisphere, this book is a necessary and valuable asset towards not only evangelizing Muslims, but understanding their dogma. Thabiti Anyabwile is always an exceptional writer, but The Gospel for Muslims stands out to me. As I read, I could feel Anyabwile’s passion for reaching the millions of Muslims all around the world on every page. Certainly, this book will help anyone be able to converse with Muslims intelligently about their faith, but it’s Anyabwile’s compassion for them that I learned the most from in this book.
The book deals with the doctrine needed to communicate with believers in Islam, but there are also many practical steps and advice that comes from Anyabwile’s personal experience as a former Muslim. Chapter 8 on hospitality is one that was incredibly beneficial to me. One of the things I have never thought about is how it would be nearly impossible for me as a man to be able to evangelize Muslim women, Anyabwile helped me to see that my wife would be far more suited for such an endeavor. As a man pastoring in a city that has a high population of Muslims, this book will be one that I keep going back to as I evangelize. Thabiti Anyabwile continues to be what I always see him as a Christian coach, practically showing how to live and speak the Gospel with love. Reading The Gospel for Muslims would be well worth your time.
