Book Review – Unparalleled

Book Review – Unparalleled

There’s no denying that Jared C. Wilson knows how to write. Whether it’s a blog post at For the Church or his hilarious remarks during football season on his Twitter, Jared Wilson knows how to keep a reader’s attention. His books are just as entertaining as his other writings. One of his most recent books is Unparalleled. Unparalleled is a look at the uniqueness of Christianity and its claims. There’ no religion like it according to Wilson.

As a former pastor, Wilson gives some insightful stories at the beginning of each chapter. The reader will definitely find these stories humorous and accurate to their lives, especially if they have been in pastoral ministry. He then uses these stories as backdrop to illustrate a defining aspect of Christianity. This book is of benefit for any Christians out there. While most likely nothing new will be learned in this book for pastors, there is something special and wonderful about how Wilson words these common truths.

My only criticism of Unparalleled is in regards to the little amount of supporting information given to the claims of Christianity. I understand that Wilson did not intend to write an academic book of apologetics, but perhaps some more support for claims he makes throughout the book would have been beneficial for the reader. Unparalleled is an encouraging and quick read that will leave you with a treasure trove of brilliantly worded quotes about the uniqueness of Christianity.
